Pandemic News and the Clubhouse

As a result of rising infection rates, Howard County issued an executive order requiring masks in indoor, public spaces, regardless of vaccination status, effective12/26/2021. SOCA complied by requiring masks inside the clubhouse. We have interpreted the order to permit removal of masks while actively eating or drinking, and the county has confirmed this interpretation. As a result, we are currently proceeding on the assumption that SOCA can continue its planned schedule of activities. But the situation is growing more serious, both nationally and in Howard County. Please stay tuned for any changes that the progress of the pandemic may require. Let’s hope for improvement soon. We have attached two charts we use to track the disease in Howard County. The red dashed lines on both charts indicate the levels of new cases or the positivity rate of tests (“substantial”) that trigger CDC’s recommendation of masking in all indoor public places, regardless of vaccination status.
